From the first clip of the pruning shears on a rainy January morning, Cristom Vineyard Manager Mark Feltz insures that every vine of the Cristom estate produces the finest fruit, vintage after vintage. Stitched into the earth above the winery are row after row of the finest French clones of Pinot Gris. It is a high density planting: 2,300 vines in a single acre force roots deep into the hillsides and intense flavors into the fruit.

In 1972, Erath Vineyards was founded and we made our first wines. It was certainly a humble beginning - a few barrels of pinot, and a few barrels of riesling. The Hair of the Dog Brewing Company was founded by Alan Sprints and Doug Henderson in November of 1993. We recently celebrated our 5th anniversary in December 1998. Alan was formerly a brewer at Widmer Brewing Company. Before brewing he attended Culinary School and cooked at some of Portland's finest restaurants. Doug's background in homebrewing is 15 years old
